The BNC Complex in the Slovakian capital Bratislava, including 16 bowling lanes,
numerous hotel rooms and a well working restaurant, opened for the 3rd
time its doors for their annual stop in the European Bowling Tour, the BNC Open.
209 bowlers from many areas of Europe had found their way to the hospitable
bowling centre, which in 2013 will
host not less than three international events, namely the BNC Open, the EBT Masters 2013
and finally the ECC 2013.
The final of this year’s tournament in Bratislava
became an all-German affair between Bodo Konieczny and Birgit Pöppler, with Bodo
Konieczny as the winner 436 (211+225) vs. 373 (173+200) in the two games final.
In the semi-finals, Bodo Konieczny defeated Dennis Eklund from Sweden 428
(212+216) vs. 397 (187+210) and Birgit Pöppler defeated Thomas Gross from
Austria 437 (216+221) vs. 356 (188+168).
Both Bodo Konieczny and Birgit Pöppler became the highest ranked man,
respectively women in a tour stop for the first time in their careers.
The men’s division of the European Bowling Tour has Dominic Barrett from England
as the leader with 595 points (30 points in Bratislava), in front of Osku
Palermaa from Finland with 496 points (46 points in Bratislava) at position 2
and Mike Fagan from USA with 470 points (not attending the tournament in
Bratislava) at position 3.
In the women’s division of the European Bowling Tour, Sandra Andersson from
Sweden is leading with 505 points (70 points in Bratislava), followed by Birgit
Pöppler from Germany with 425 points (100 points in Bratislava) at position 2
and Krista Pöllänen from Finland with 420 points (not attending the tournament
in Bratislava) at position 3.
The tour will continue next week with the conduction of the Russian Open in
Cosmik Belay Dacha in Moscow on 11-15 September.
